Canadian porn star faces judge in case of murder, dismemberment
Canadian porn actor Luka Rocco Magnotta will appear before a German judge on Tuesday after spending a night in solitary confinement for allegedly killing and dismembering a man and mailing body parts to politicians. According to prosecutors, Magnotta’s court appearance is to identify and announce charges against him. He faces murder in the first-degree and other charges in the May killing of Jun Lin, 33, a Concordia University student from China. Authorities accuse the Canadian of dismembering the student, mailing parts of his body to Canadian politicians, and taunting authorities by posting a video of the gruesome act on the Internet.
Magnotta was arrested by Berlin police on Monday at an Internet café where he was browsing articles about himself. The porn actor’s arrest ended an international manhunt that began when the body parts were sent to Canadian politicians in the mail last month. According to Montreal police, Lin’s death and dismemberment were reportedly captured on a graphic video posted to the Internet. The video features a man, whom authorities believe is Magnotta, killing another man, dismembering the corpse and performing sexual acts. Some of Lin’s body parts remain missing, authorities say. Authorities said they believe Magnotta killed Lin on May 24 or May 25, posted the video, took a flight to France on May 26, and then boarded a bus to Berlin on June 1. He was discovered by an Internet café employee. The investigation will continue, according to authorities.
