Starting in October 2020, all domestic flights and federal facilities will require REAL ID compliant licenses to travel or enter the buildings. D.C. and Maryland require the residents to get their REAL IDs before the aforementioned date. Although it’s not mandatory for the Virginia residents, it is recommended that they apply for their REAL IDs also. The officials suggest that the residents should make an appointment prior to coming to Department of Motor Vehicles, however the agencies are making it easier for the residents by bringing their services into neighborhoods.
