According to police, two men were shot near the National Zoo Monday afternoon. The shooting occurred around 5:15 p.m. near the 3000 block of Connecticut Avenue NW. One man was shot in the left arm; the other in the left hand, although injuries are not life threatening. Connecticut Avenue traffic was stopped for some short time during Devonshire Place and Cathedral Avenue. Both zoo grounds and the pedestrian gates at Connecticut Avenue were closed at 6 p.m. due to police activity. Park police and the Metro Police Department are investigating the possibility of other victims. The weapon has not been recovered, nor the shooter.
