Suspect in Georgetown socialite murder case lashes out at judge

In his first court appearance since he was charged for the murder of 91-year-old German journalist and Georgetown socialite Viola Drath, Albrecht Muth lashed out at the court and the judge presiding maintaining that he be able to speak. The judge, in response, told Muth that anything he says can be used against him in the court of law and to let his attorney speak on his behalf.

The court appearance, simply an arraignment, was unlike any thing the prosecuting lawyer had ever seen before. Muth was arrested after he gave Drath’s family a letter instructing them to pay Muth $150,000 upon Drath’s death.
