Security increases on D.C. streets
Security in the Washington-transit area has heightened after intentional explosions occurred during the Boston Marathon. There has been no threat made toward Washington, but D.C. Mayor Gray states he has every intention of protecting D.C. residents and visitors.
Many of the 26,000 runners in the Boston Marathon were from the Washington, Maryland, and Virginia areas. Phone numbers provided by Massachusetts Emergency Management are to be used to reach family members and friends in the area. Google has also enacted a website called Google Person Finder that will help determine the location of people in Boston.
