In a  comparison of public transportation in major cities throughout the United States, WTOP News found that the L.A., California bus system reported around 30 fewer injuries than the D.C.’s Metro. There were 354 injuries with WMATA compared to 327 injuries with L.A. The California bus system covered more than twice the amount of revenue miles than Metro in 2011. Metro reportedly had hundreds of collisions and close calls.

In Metro’s defense, Ted Harris, Metro’s acting superintendent of bus transportation said, “I’ve worked in Toronto, Los Angeles, and Washington. I think our Metrobus operators are the best I’ve ever worked with.”
