President Obama and family light White House Christmas tree

On Thursday night, President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and their daughters Sasha and Malia, attended the 90th annual lighting of the White House Christmas tree. Sasha and Malia pulled the switch sending lights to the giant blue spruce, which was transplanted on the Ellipse in October. Neil Patrick Harris hosted the event, and there were performances by The Fray, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Ledisi, Jason Mraz, and James Taylor. Tickets to the event sold out months ago, but a live stream was available for people to watch online.
