Police claim animals may have been killed in ritual

According to the U.S. Park Police, several birds and a goat have been found with their throats cut in Rock Creek Park in what they believe may have been a ritualistic killing. On Tuesday, police claimed a woman walking on an isolated path in the park, located north of 17th Street northwest, found the bodies of eight animals, including chickens, pigeons, and a small goat. They believe the animals were killed elsewhere and then dumped before snow fell that morning. The uniform way each animal was killed has led investigators to believe the animal slayings were part of a cult practice. The animals’ bodies have been released to animal control officers.
