PG County police officer shot following shootout in Capitol Heights

A Prince George’s County police officer was shot in Capitol Heights following an engagement with a group of men Wednesday night. The officer, who was part of a special team of police, was shot in the arm after confronting the group of men which was reportedly involved in “suspicious activity” on Marblewood Avenue in Chapel Oaks at approximately 10:30 p.m.

When the officer was shot, another police officer shot back, wounding a man in the group. Both the officer and the wounded man were taken the hospital with non-threatening injuries. The rest of the group was arrested.
