Landmark Music Festival to benefit National Mall restoration

A group working to raise capital to make improvements to the National Mall plans to launch a new music festival later on this year in D.C. to help fund the restoration effort. The two-day Landmark Music Festival will be held in West Potomac Park, on September 26 and 27. Drake, The Strokes and British rock band Alt-J will be the headlining acts. Organizers announced plans Tuesday night, stating that the festival will feature more than forty artists on five stages. The Trust for the National Mall is collaborating with concert promoter C3 Presents to stage the festival. Early passes will be priced at $100 and $150. Karen Cucurullo, acting superintendent of the National Mall, says the National Park Service wants to appeal to a younger generation as the agency rapidly approaches its 100th anniversary.
