National Zoo celebrates debut of gazelle calf
After the recent tragic death of a panda cub at the National Zoo, animal enthusiasts have a new reason to celebrate–the birth of an endangered species of gazelle. The calf was born October 13th, but made its public debut on Thursday with its three-year-old mother Zafirah. The addition of this newest dama gazelle, a male calf, brings the number of this extremely endangered species living at the National Zoo to seven. In the wild fewer than 500 exist.
