Men attacked in NW DC may be victims of hate crime

Two men attacked in the Shaw neighborhood in Northwest DC may have been victims of a hate crime, police investigating the incident report. They were followed and taunted by a group of young men who yelled a pejorative slang term for gay men before assaulting them physically. The two men reported being punched, and posted about the attack on a neighborhood blog. Police assigned the Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit to the case.
