Man with pressure cooker in car apologizes

A man who owned a pressure cooker that was destroyed by the police during the annual Memorial Day concert apologized for his actions and said he should have used better judgment Sunday evening. Israel Shimeles, of Alexandria stated that he understands why the equipment (which he uses for work and left in his vehicle) caused concern and why the U.S. Capitol Police had to destroy the pressure cooker. The pressure cooker was discovered on 3rd Street between Jefferson and Madison drives at about 5:00 p.m. and destroyed it about fifteen minutes before the National Memorial Day Concert. Shimeles added that he willingly cooperated with the police. Nothing dangerous was found in his car. He was arrested on a charge of operating after revocation or suspension. It is not known if the charge was for driving without a license or related to some other type of operating permit.
