King comments on joblessness among blacks

The eldest son of Martin Luther King Jr. commented that blacks may celebrate his father’s life and work, but there is still more than needs to be accomplished.

Martin Luther King III will be joining the ceremonies on Wednesday, commemorating the 50th anniversary of his father’s “I Have a Dream” speech. King says the country should confront “staggering unemployment” among black males between the ages of 18 and 30.

Although King believes Obama’s election as the first African-American president is a major breakthrough for America, he also told NBC’s “Today” that he believes young blacks “are first judged by their color and then the content of their character.”
