Inner Loop reopens following deadly accident

The Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway is open again, after a crash early Friday that left one man dead. The Inner Loop was shut down at Connecticut Avenue for more than three hours as authorities investigated a crash near Georgia Avenue. Traffic was rerouted onto Connecticut Avenue.

The accident, which occurred at 2:15 a.m., involved a car and a tractor trailer. The man crashed into the rig near a construction zone. The tractor trailer driver, Rudolph Wilson, states he had his blinker on and was driving slowly through the work zone. A state trooper was already nearby, and says no construction workers were hurt. It is recommended drivers take East-West Highway to Georgia Avenue or Colesville Road to get back to the Inner Loop, or go north to University Boulevard.
