A home in Southeast D.C. where the owner was hoarding an exorbitant amount of items caught fire Thursday morning.
It is still unclear whether the hoarding conditions within the home, located on M Street by Minnesota Avenue, were a factor in the fire.
The owner says he was awakened by the smell of smoke at about 4 a.m. He was able to escape uninjured and ran to several neighbors homes for help.
The estimated cost of loss by the fire has not yet been released.
