High security for First Lady book signing
For fans and supporters who would like to attend First Lady Michelle Obama’s book signing on Tuesday of next week, they will have to endure a daunting security process. Customers must first purchase a copy of “American Grown” in advance at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in northwest Washington, D.C., but roughly 200 customers will make the cut, as there is a limited amount of people who will be able to attend the signing. Customers won’t receive the book at purchase, but will instead receive a receipt and wristband.
On June 12, customers with wristbands can show up for the actual book signing, but they are required to get approved and screened by the Secret Service, who will check bags, cameras, and cell phones. Mrs. Obama will sign one copy of the book for each customer, but no personal signings. The event lasts 45 minutes, meaning there’s no guarantee that everyone in line will get an autographed book.
