Government workers to receive pay raises

Over 20,000 D.C. government workers are scheduled to receive pay raises. On Wednesday, Mayor Vincent Gray agreed to raise the salaries of over 13,000 unionized employees as well as 10,000 nonunion employees.

Gray has set aside $56 million for pay raises in his budget proposal, he believes that these new salaries will be “righting an injustice” that has lasted for several years. The rise in pay will total 13 percent over four years.
