Eight people have been arrested in connection with Sunday afternoon protests that blocked the Southeast/Southwest Freeway. The event was organized in solidarity with those protesting the recent Missouri Grand Jury ruling related to August’s shooting death of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. In D.C. Sunday, police say that all but eight demonstrators moved out of the way when advised to move. Additionally, police say that they asked to be arrested, and were charged with blocking passage after being told to move. Brown was shot by white police officer Darren Wilson; the grand jury decided not to indict him on any charges in connection with the shooting. The protestors were part of the group #DCFerguson, which has organize several demonstrations in the past week.
