The D.C. area has begun to prepare for the annual “Potholepalooza” campaign to restore the city’s roads. On Wednesday officials stated the month-long project will begin on March 20. The District Department of Transportation will aim fix recognized potholes in 48 hours instead of the usual 72 hours. Both residents and commuters can not only call in a pothole, but they can also report them online via tweets or email. Due to the unusually cold winter this year, transportation crews have filled over than 9,000 potholes already, which is more than twice the number fixed for January and February of last year. The first Potholepalooza campaign was held in 2009 and more than 6,000 potholes were filled.
