District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray has met with President Barack Obama for the first time since he took office.

Gray was one of 18 mayors who met with the president and Attorney General Eric Holder to discuss ways to reduce youth violence. The group met on Tuesday and included Cory Booker of Newark, Kevin Johnson of Sacramento, Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans, and Michael Nutter of Philadelphia.

Gray’s spokesperson said the mayor shared details about the city’s summer programs that keep at-risk youth out of trouble.

Gray’s previous meeting with the president came in 2010 when he was a mayor-elect.
