The District of Colombia’s Mayor, Vincent Gray, was joined by federal officials and guest to celebrate Ethal Kennedy by naming a bridge after her. Ethal is the widow to Senator Robert F. Kennedy. The bridge, which crosses the Anacostia River and Kingman Island, was dedicated in honor of Mrs. Kennedy’s two decades of work with at-risk District youth to restore Anacostia. The Mayor stated,”Ethel Kennedy is legendary in the District of Columbia not only for her dedication to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, but also for her fierce passion to restore the environmental health of the river that runs through our city’s heart”
