Top officials have announced that a deal involving $139 million of city funds has been reached in relation to the proposed building of a new stadium for the D.C. United soccer franchise. The D.C. Council agreed to an initial approval status of the deal on December 12, which authorizes up to $150 million from public funds. The deal discussion caused clashes between Mayor Vincent Gray and Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, but the two say they have come to terms over the agreement.
