D.C. residents received official voters guides from the D.C. Board of Elections that prominently featured the city’s flag printed upside down on the cover. The original response to questions about the error called it a purposeful flip to grab the attention of voters. However, the Washington Post reported late Thursday that the board’s Executive Director Clifford Tatum confirmed it as a mistake. The cover graphic was apparently created by a design team, and Tatum did not approve it before printing. There was not time to reprint the more than 300,000 copies.
