D.C. honors residents 100 years and older

On Tuesday, city officials will hold an event celebrating the longevity of centenarians. Over 40 individuals are expected to attend, and they will be given a medallion of honor for their long lives.

The 2010 U.S. Census reported that there are 53,364 individuals who are ages 100 and over. The District of Columbia’s event will be held at the Washington Plaza Hotel.
