D.C. Council awaits mayor’s decision on minimum wage increase

The members of the District of Columbia Council have approved the bill to increase minimum wage to $11.50 an hour by the year 2016.

The bill now awaits the approval of Mayor Vincent Gray who has voiced his support for a minimum wage hike, but under the proposed amount.

The current minimum wage in the District of Columbia is $8.25 an hour. If approved, the minimum wage in the district will be amongst the highest in the nation.
