Coast Guard to spearhead effort to contain Anacostia River fuel spill

The U.S. Coast Guard has announced that it will spearhead the effort to contain a large fuel spill in the Anacostia River. Officials are unsure of how the petroleum-based chemical got into the water.

To fight the spill, officials have placed large booms on the river to stop the chemical from flowing into the state of Maryland. The fuel spill spreads from the 11th Street Bridge and New York Avenue.
