ALERT: Ticket amnesty in D.C. ends Jan. 27

The D.C. ticket amnesty program will end on January 27 after existing on the books for almost six months. The program offers drivers with a D.C. ticket issued prior to Jan. 1, 2010 the chance to pay the ticket without suffering from points on their license. They are required to pay only photo-enforced tickets, moving violations, or parking tickets.

Lucinda Barbers, director of the D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles said, “This month we are being bombarded by people coming in to adjudication services. We encourage everyone to continue to bum-rush us and pay up.” Drivers have paid $3.1 million worth of tickets, Barber says, and there is $233 million remaining in unpaid tickets in the District. Barber reportedly doesn’t know when the next program will be offered.
