Voter discontent may cause low turnout

In spite of the protests going on all over the country, that passion may not translate to the polls. Part of the reason for that is that people are frustrated with both political parties and their ability to work together, according to George Mason University Professor Mark Rozell. “People are just in general angry, fed up, they don’t believe politicians of either political party, they don’t think government works for them.”

With Virginia legislative election four weeks away, political operatives are adjusting their strategy. In some cases they are concentrating on core voters rather than the swing vote. Virginia’s entire general assembly is up for election next month.
