Eugene Todd Mills, 42, will spend five years in prison after being convicted of embezzling more than $700,000 from the Virginia FFA Foundation. Mills entered an Alford plea to embezzlement charges in September 2013 and although Mills did not plead guilty, he agreed that the evidence is strong enough to convict him. He was sentenced on Monday in Montgomery County Circuit Court and must pay restitution. Formerly known as the Virginia Future Farmers of America, the Virginia FFA Association raises funds to support activities for the group. According to prosecutors, Mills embezzled the money while he was serving as the foundation’s treasurer.
