James River floating classroom to launch in June
Applications are being accepted for the annual floating classroom on James River. The 340-length journey down the USA’s Founding River is expected to launch on June 21 and is open to rising 10th and 11th grade students. According to the James River Association, the trip is sponsored by Dominion Resources, a parent company of Dominion Virginia Power. The Dominion Foundation also supports the floating classroom experience with a $50,000 grant. Students selected for the trip will have the opportunity to go on one of three eight-day trips. While on the journey, students can expect to learn the river’s history as well as responsible stewardship while camping and traveling aboard canoes and work boats. The application deadline is March 15.
