Fatal shooting by deputy deemed justified

The fatal shooting of man by a Culpeper County Sheriff’s Deputy has been deemed justified.

Fifty-nine-year-old Harold Lee Daniels was speeding at over 100 mph on April 12 when deputies sought to arrest him.  Daniels then brandished a gun in the direction of several deputies when Deputy Patrick cooper shot and killed him.

The investigation’s findings were confirmed Monday and Cooper has since returned to work.
