The Virginia Board of Health announced Thursday that they would review the rules currently in place for abortion clinics. Last year, it was decided that abortion clinics needed to follow strict hospital-style regulations that resulted in the closing of many clinics. Thursday’s announcement did not propose specific changes, but agreed to move forward with developing a general framework for state regulations in future. Building the framework may take up to six months before allowing public comment, potentially lengthening the entire process to two years before a final board vote.
