Jeremy Lin, a 23-year-old Harvard University graduate, has quickly become a New York media target after leading the New York Knicks to seven straight wins. The New York media has dubbed the phenomenon “Linsanity,” and the former unknown economics major has exploded on social media sites, reaching more than 300,000 followers on Twitter. After only 10 days off the bench, Lin,a point-guard, immediately became the Knicks’ unlikely savior. He scored 25 points in his first game to help his team defeat the New Jersey Nets, and last Friday, he outscored Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers, with 38 points and another victory for the Knicks. Lin achieved a career-best with 13 assists to lead his team past the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

Larry Dimitriou, a manager of Modell’s Sporting Goods store in Manhattan said, “He’s made the Knicks relevant again. We constantly get Lin jerseys every day. I put one in the window to show people we have them. A short time later, they’re gone.” President Barack Obama has also noticed the talent in the Harvard graduate, stating that he is “very impressed” with the NBA player, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters on Wednesday.
