Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz) announced on her website on Sunday that she will resign this week from Congress and focus on her recuperation. Giffords was shot in the head on January 8, 2011 during a meet-and-greet with constituents in Tuscon where six people were killed and 13 others injured.
