President Obama’s approval rating hits an all time low

A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll reports that President Obama’s approval rating is at a new low. 42% of Americans approve of his job performance, indicating that people are getting more and more frustrated with the events that have occurred in Washington lately. “Personally and politically, the public’s assessment is two thumbs down,” says Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart.

Even though Republicans received much of the blame for the government shutdown, and have an approval rating of 22%, the public is not happy with any part of government. “It feels like we’re in a Howard Beale moment,” adds Hart, referencing the 70s movie, “Network.” “We’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore,” he quoted.

The health care conflict has not been an obvious detriment to the president though. 47% of Americans see the health care law as a bad idea, indicating that some are still holding out hope for its positive impact.
