President Obama, White House goes into full reelection mode
This week, President Barack Obama and his administration at the White House moved into full reelection mode in a bold effort to plant the seeds of what polls suggest could be eight difficult months of campaigning ahead. With blatant political speeches by both President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday, it appeared that a significant approach and intensity had been made to the 2012 presidential campaign. A 17-minute documentary-style testimonial celebrating what the administration considers its most significant accomplishments was also released on Thursday. The documentary, “The Road We’ve Traveled” is narrated by Academy Award winner Tom Hanks and directed by Davis Guggenheim. The documentary also has much to do with the tasks that lie ahead for the American people.
Although the documentary was produced weeks ago, the release comes amid a wave of recent bad news for the president, including some of the lowest approval ratings of his presidency, news that his fundraising efforts have been less robust than expected, and some political fallout from steady rising gasoline prices. The campaign remains in high hopes that the video will inject some energy, as well as campaign cash, into Obama’s reelection efforts, as his Republican opponents continue to plod through a tough primary season.
