Politics – Clinton: Trump donates to veterans groups out of ‘shame’

On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton said Donald Trump does not deserve credit for donating to veterans groups, saying he only did so because a reporter had to “shame” him into it. “Look, I’m glad he finally did it, but I don’t know that he should get much credit,” she told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “The Lead.” “I think the problem here is the difference between what Donald Trump says and what Donald Trump does.” Clinton continued, saying, “It took a reporter to shame him into actually making his contribution.” Earlier Tuesday, Trump said he gave $5.6 million in donations to veterans groups after pressure from news organizations. Trump also said Clinton had given “nothing” to veterans charities. Clinton responded to Trump’s claim in her interview with Tapper, saying she raised money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund with Arizona Sen. John McCain.
