Mitt Romney talks foreign policy

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is going on the offensive on the topic of foreign policy, likely in response to his consistent lag behind President Obama in the opinion polls specifically on the topic of foreign policy. He has launched a series of criticisms of the Obama administrations handling of foreign policy, particularly regarding the Middle East. He blamed the tragic killing of the US ambasador to Libya on the Obama administration’s lax attitude toward security at the embassy and insurgent activity in the region. He also accused Obama of being two soft on Iran and chastised the lack of direct intervention in the Middle East in conflicts such as the Syrian civil war, stating that there was a “longing for American leadership” in the region. The White House dismissed his remarks, saying “we will not be lectured by someone who has been an unmitigated disaster on foreign policy.”
