Mitch McConnell, the five-time senator from Kentucky, defeated tea party-backed Matt Bevin on Tuesday; McConnell is currently the top Republican in the chamber. According to the Associated Press, McConnell defeated Bevin 60%-36%. Following his seemingly one-sided victory, it is expected that McConnell, 72, will face Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Grimes, 35, who is backed by former President Bill Clinton.
