Immigration bill passed

The U.S. Senate voted to approve a new immigration bill on Thursday, giving illegal immigrants in the country a path to citizenship, as well as increasing security on the border between the United States and Mexico. The bill will make changes to United States immigration laws for the first time since 1986. The bill was given final approval by a 68-32 vote.

The bill was created by the “Gang of Eight,” a group of four Republican and four Democrat senators. The bill is supported by the White House with Obama calling it “a critical step” for fixing the immigration system.
