House set to repeal Affordable Care Act, again

Less than two weeks after President Barack Obama’s administration received victory from the Supreme Court, who upheld the Affordable Care Act, the House of Representatives are set to vote to repeal the legislation once again. Lawmakers will begin debating the Republican Party’s proposal to repeal the law on Tuesday, with a final vote expected on Wednesday afternoon.

Since the enactment of President Obama’s historic Affordable Care Act in 2010, the House has voted 30 times to defund, dismantle, and repeal the legislation. House Speaker John Boehner said voting to repeal in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision will only act to strengthen the GOP’s resolve. Democrats are using the opportunity to revamp support for the law, dismissing the GOP’s latest repeal attempt as a “political charade” and “campaign fodder.”
