Gabby Giffords pushes gun control with new PAC and campaign funding

Gabby Gifford’s new PAC, Giffords’ Rights and Responsibilities PAC, serves as the former congresswoman’s vehicle for change regarding gun laws. Giffords transferred $300,000 to the PAC, and that money was the residual amount left in her campaign account.

One of the PAC’s first strategies will be campaign funding, and Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., Sen. Sue Collins, R-Maine, and Sen. Kay Hagan D-N.C., will all receive donations from the PAC, according to senior advisor to Giffords, Pia Carusone.

Carusone added that the PAC will give money to “as many Democrats and Republicans as we can,” so long as they support “the Second Amendment and methods to reduce gun violence.”

Since the shooting in Tucson, Arizona that wounded 14 people, including Giffords who has permanent injuries, Giffords and her husband have worked to put gun control at the front of the policy agenda.
