Facebook an invaluable tool for Obama campaign

 

President Barack Obama’s campaign has made a strategic move involving social media, specifically Facebook, one which has paid off tremendously. The campaign team paid for so-called “Sponsored Stories” to appear in users’ news feeds.  It was a calculated risk. Some argued it would be viewed as intrusive and drive some voters away. As it turned out, it resulted in Obama’s campaign Facebok page received more than one million likes in a single day. There was some backlash, but obviously the net effect was a desirable one for Obama. Both presidential candidates, Republican and Democrats, have been ramping up their efforts recently to bring their campaigns to the social media realm.
