NEWS ALERT:  On Monday night, during the House vote in Congress, recovering Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords waved to well-wishing colleagues as she prepared to vote.  Giffords made a special appearance at the behest of Democrat leaders to attend for the crucial vote to raise the debt ceiling. “I had to be here for this vote. I could not take the chance that my absence could crash our economy,” Giffords said. Leaders in the House and Senate marshaled their members to get behind the bipartisan bill before the U.S. defaults on its debt on August 2nd.

Vice President Joe Biden attended the session for the vote and said he had come to the floor to see Giffords specifically.  “I came to see Gabby, that’s why I’m here,” he remarked.  Mark Kelly, Gifford’s husband, was also on hand to watch the proceedings.
