Christie to take questions on bridge scandal

Chris Christie, Governor of New Jersey, is scheduled to hold a news conference on Thursday morning to discuss revelations that a senior aide and two political appointees forced days of traffic jams as political retribution against the Democrat mayor of Fort Lee, N.J.

On Wednesday, a series of disclosed emails and text messages reportedly show Christie’s deputy chief of staff and his top appointees at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey closed two access lanes from Fort Lee onto the George Washington Bridge into New York. This lead to days of delays and traffic jams in the Fort Lee area during September.

Christie previously stated that he didn’t believe his office played any role in the incident, but the emails prove otherwise. The evidence does not show whether Christie, himself, is directly involved.
