A fire that began in Bernardo, California, on Tuesday night was just the beginning of a string of wildfires that has caused San Diego County to declare the area in a state of local emergency. As of now, 7 different fires have been reported in the region. In Carlsbad, California, some 23,000 evacuation notices have been issued. The fires mark an early beginning to “wildfire season” in California, as they normally aren’t a problem until summer. Parts of California are currently facing daily record high temperatures and gusty winds—according to meteorologist Jennifer Gray wildfires this summer are “only going to get worse.” There are currently no reported fatalities.
