A man is detained for questioning in connection with a series of fires in the Los Angeles area, according to officials. City fire department noted 55 “fires of concern” since Friday, 45 of which were in the Los Angeles area, nine in West Hollywood and one in Burbank. A surveillance video released by authorities showed a man with a ponytail, receding hairline and dark hair, in his late 20s to mid-30s.
Authorities have not yet announced if the man in the video is the man they have in custody. The arrest was made after a series of new blazes very early Monday. The arsonist set fire to cars in Hollywood and Van Nuys. The Los Angeles area has not seen such a series of fires since the city’s riots in 1992.
