President Obama focuses on finding jobs for 1 million vets

A proposal by President Barack Obama is apparently asking Congress to approve new initiatives that will aid some of the 1 million unemployed American military veterans in finding jobs including tax credits that hire unemployed veterans. The proposal, which Obama is outlining Friday, is part of Obama’s plan to focus on jobs after spending weeks focusing on the debt-limit.

The outline comes in the wake of a recent Labor Department report that announced that unemployment has dipped in July and that the economy has hired 117,000 people. In a recent statement, the White House said that the slow economy has affected the ability for veterans to acquire jobs after joining the military after Sept. 11.
