Texas state prison officials reports that Polygamist leader Warren Jeffs is expected to recover after Jeffs fell into a coma due to fasting. The leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints remains in critical condition but is conscious.

“He’s somewhat sedated, but he is responsive,” Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Jason Clark said. Jeffs was convicted in early August and sentenced to life-plus-20 years term for the sexual assault of a 12-year-old and 15-year-old girl who he said were his “spiritual wives.”
